Terms of Use

Welcome to SaveState ("SaveState," "we," "us," or "our"). SaveState is a social app for logging, rating, and reviewing video games. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use SaveState.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a SaveState account. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you confirm you have a parent or guardian's permission to use the app.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your password secure. Notify us if you suspect unauthorized access. You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account — see Section 8.

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of the reviews, ratings, lists, and comments you post ("User Content"). By posting User Content, you grant SaveState a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it within the app so other users can see it. You are solely responsible for what you post and must not post anything that violates our Community Guidelines or applicable law.

4. Premium Subscriptions

SaveState offers an optional paid subscription ("Premium") that unlocks cosmetic features — for example, additional avatar frames, profile backgrounds, and (planned) review-page customization such as custom backgrounds or artwork. Premium is billed and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and is subject to their respective billing, renewal, and refund terms.

If your subscription ends or is cancelled, your account reverts to the free tier: any reviews, ratings, or lists you created remain published as normal — only the cosmetic customization tied to Premium is removed or reverts to the default appearance. Cancelling Premium never deletes or hides your content.

5. Advertising

Free-tier accounts may see advertising served through Google AdMob. Premium subscribers do not see ads. See our Privacy Policy for how ad personalization and consent work in your region.

6. Third-Party Game Data

Game information (titles, cover art, screenshots, ratings, release dates) is provided by the IGDB API. This data belongs to IGDB and its contributors; SaveState displays it under IGDB's terms of service.

7. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to: harass or threaten other users; post spam, hate speech, or impersonate someone else; upload content you don't have the rights to; attempt to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service; or use the app for any unlawful purpose. See our Community Guidelines for details and how content gets reported and moderated.

8. Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account from Settings → Delete Account, or by emailing us (see Section 12) if you no longer have access to the app. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what happens to your data when you delete your account.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

SaveState is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee the accuracy of third-party game data or uninterrupted service.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SaveState is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
